His movement is elastic and powerful. His temperament remains laid-back and willing. He is brave and unflappable.

If there were a contest for best broodmares, Crystal would win it hands down. She’s a dream to work with both in getting pregnant and delivering the babes. She’ll go into labor while I am with her in the barn, which I appreciate to no end. She gives all her attention to her babes, raising 11 foals without issue. She is the quintessential Madonna and I’ve been blessed to have her in my life.

There is something completely special about your first horse. I met Danny when he was 10, over 21 years ago. He was the perfect teacher: kind but with enough fire to make me pay attention. We did it all over the years: trail riding, drill team, cow penning, western pleasure, English pleasure, dressage, and camping at the beach and in the Cascades. When it was no longer possible to carry me, he became uncle to all the babes, teaching them for a year after they were weaned. This past summer, I almost lost him and he is now assigned to permanent yard duty, going where ever he wishes and keeping the lawn trimmed.
